Course Description

We welcome you to attend the 40th Anniversary of the University of Minnesota Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Women's Health Autumn Seminar. The Autumn Seminar is dedicated to providing up-to-date information related to advancements in the care and treatment of patients in the areas of maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, psychiatry, breast health, reproductive endocrinology and other timely topics.

Purpose

This continuing medical education conference is dedicated to:

  • Updating community physicians and providing a forum for discussion on the topic of women's health
  • Imparting cutting edge knowledge from subject matter experts
  • Being a venue for cross sub-specialty communication and sharing of best practices
  • Reporting on new research findings and innovations in patient care

Audience

This seminar would be ideal for specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, family physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, midwives and other health professionals involved in the field of women's health.

Educational Objectives

Following this conference, participants should be able to:

  • Manage varicose veins
  • Consider treatment options for thrombosis in Ob/Gyn patients
  • Discuss the prevention of Vitamin D deficiency with Ob/Gyn patients
  • Address hypertension in women
  • Identify approaches to intervention and best practices in obstetrical safety
  • Update knowledge on ovarian cancer
  • Understand the impact of payment reform for obstetrical care
  • Offer individualized clinical decisions in the treatment of women's mental health

Accreditation

  • AMA Category 1 credits: 13.5
  • American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists cognate hours: Application has been submitted
  • American Academy of Physician Assistants: Accepts AMA Category 1 credit
  • A Statement of Attendance will be provided to other heath care professionals for requesting CEUs in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations.

Pre-registration for this conference ends at 4:30 p.m. Central Time on October 1, 2009. After this time we will take registrations on-site.
