Overview
Emerging and re-emerging infections continue to challenge clinicians, infection control practitioners and public health officials alike. This continuing education conference, which is now in its 15th year, provides a forum for authoritative presentations and discussion of current approaches to many of these challenges.
Audience
This conference would be ideal for primary care physicians, as well as practitioners of infectious diseases, infection control, public health, clinical microbiology, pharmacy and other health care professionals to help understand the trends of disease occurrence.
Educational Objectives
Following this conference, participants should be able to:
- Recognize the possibility of resurgance of vaccine preventable infections
- Define the novel H1N1 influenza and apply that knowledge in practice
- Identify emerging or re-emerging infections in Minnesota
- Discuss the problem of increasing antibiotic resistant bacteria
- Perform antimicrobial sterwardship appropriately in the inpatient and outpatient setting

The University of Minnesota is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The University of Minnesota designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurse practitioners, nurses, and other health care professionals who participate in this CME activity may submit their Statements of Attendance to their appropriate accrediting organizations or state boards for consideration of credit. The participant is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
American Academy of Physician Assistants
AAPA accepts AMA Category 1 CME credit for the PRA from organizations accredited by ACCME.

Cancellation Policy
In the event you need to cancel your registration, the registration fee, less a $50 administrative fee, will be refunded if you notify us by 4:30 p.m. Central Time on November 6, 2009. No refunds will be made after this date.
Pre-Registration Deadline
Pre-registration for this conference ends at 4:30 p.m. Central Time on November 18, 2009. After this time we will take registrations on-site.
